Do you think an ERM updated map can tune out some of the stutter that is present when cruising or just cracking the throttle not under load on my 2024 EXC 300? TPS is spot on.

    • @TokyoOffroad

Yes, with ERM it's easy to make fueling adjustments and then test to see how it feels. If it's a rich stutter try leaning out the setting at low rpm and test it...

IMO the best performing carb for off-road is a Keihin PWK 38 Air Striker fitted with a STIC metering block. It's what I use on my 2017 KTM 300EXC. Strong and responsive power from bottom to top. Yes, unfortunately it's not a cheap option. tokyooffroad.com/product/stic-keihin-pwk-38mm-air-striker-short-kit/

Great video! Had a couple of questions Isn't it better to place the temperature sensor fin on the right radiator since the coolant moves from left to right? Or does it not matter? Also if the non pro 2024 ktm/husq bikes already have a temp sensor in it, is there really no way to display the temp from there?

I was thinking last night. What would happen if you just ran 60:1 premix in both the oil tank and the gas tank in a TPI bike? Theory being that it wouldn't matter if the oil pump failed because all the fuel is mixed. Obviously there might be concern of clogged injectors, but is that really a think with a 60:1 mix with high quality 2 stroke oil? Just a thought.

    • @TokyoOffroad
      @TokyoOffroad 6 дней назад

With TPI the fuel injectors are located after the crankcase, at the transfer ports. The majority of the fuel will only go to the top part of the cylinder (occupy the space between the top of the piston and cylinder/head). The oil is injected at the throttle body. Running premix through the oil pump would result in the crank bearings and lower part of the piston/cylinder not get much oil (as the oil pump only injects a small amount about 1/100 the volume injected through the fuel injectors). I wouldn't recommend doing so. If you want to use premix, relocate the injectors to the reed valve block and delete the oil injection. This way the full volume of premix will flow through the crankcases, just like a carb, or TBI bike.

I just installed the Pinit racing version of this. Seems both pin it and tsp came out with these about the exact same time. Having used mine only once now but at a Motocross track, I can't really say whether it helps or not, but it really wasn't meant to be used on a Motocross track.

For MX, as you're typically riding on the pipe at higher rpm, I wouldn't expect there to be a big benefit. Lugging the bike at low speed on steep low traction dirt and rocks is where the low rpm torque and power is really important.

Noticed a big price difference between this and the and Pinit Racing version, over a $100 cheaper for the Pinit.

@@racesla Yes that is true.. Which is why I bought the PinIT racing one but hard to say which is more effective.

@@TokyoOffroad Well there are those pesky rutted MX turns that I'd like to avoid using 2nd gear if possible. My 300SX w/PC Works pipe according to Pinit, may be a bit much into the mid-range.

Why call this a review of the PV cover when it is actually the cover, head insert and map all under test???? Great that it works but it isn’t honest advertising…

He’s had the head and tune for several months and has reviewed them in previous videos.

Thanks for your feedback. My intention is not to mislead anyone regarding what I'm testing and I did include details of the engine mods (TSP Map and medium compression head) and setting (green map) in the the video. To help avoid any confusion I just updated the video title to "Two Stroke Performance Oversized PV Cover- Install and Ride Impressions (with TSP Power kit)". I also added some more detail to the description of the video regarding the mods on my bike: "Testing was performed using the TSP Power Kit (medium compression head and TSP Map 3BE-24-J) and Green map, with FMF Fatty pipe and Moto Tassinari VForce4X Reed Valve." Hope it's clearer now.

a whole lot of ktm/husky riders have an aftermarket exhaust, race head and tuned ecu and/or maps. a lot of ktm/husky riders mostly chase gains due to the emissions and possibility of much more power with it with the dreaded emissions. either way power delivery will still be different in any application and will improve low to mid range by some margin.

This is not possible because on previous generation engines there is no exhaust chamber under the power valve cover

Looks good, I have another brand and I put a little silicone in the top and bottom inside the protector so when they snaps on they stick to the fork tube and don't rotate on a impact. They are still quite easy to remove.

Nice. I run “Dingo” upper fork guards. Both the Crosslinked and the Dingoes are more robust than the carbon fibre type.
